Grandma

So I think it has been long enough ago that I will able to write about the last visit to Grandma without it breaking my heart all over again. While we were in Vernal for Bub's birthday my Aunt called to tell mom that Grandma had filed a missing person's report with the NSLPD. So I had Bub's 3 year check up on the next Tuesday so Mom asked me to stop by to visit Grandma for a few minutes.
When I got there she didn't have her hearing aides in or the batteries were dead so she didn't hear us ring the bell or knock. We were right on top of her before she realized we were there. Than one of the first things out of her mouth was that Grandpa was at one of the neighbor's houses. I really had no idea how to respond to that. We went out into the back yard and I made a quick call to mom to let her know what Grandma had told me. Whenever mom talks to Grandma, Grandma tells her that she knows that Grandpa died and that she DOES NOT go looking for him.
Because of the time of day I really didn't want to stay very long or I would have got stuck in heavy traffic. As I was getting into the car again she told me that Grandpa was down at one of the neighbors and she did not want him to be a nuisance to the neighbors. At that point I told her that Grandpa was dead and she told me that she knew that, but she also knows that he is there with her. I tried to convince her that the neighbors could not see him and so he was not being a nuisance. She also said that she makes food for him and he won't eat it. And all I wanted to do was cry because things are only getting worse. The Grandma that took me "bumming" when I was younger is slipping farther and farther away. Hopefully tomorrow my aunt gets her into the neurologist and than changes will be made. I hate that she will no longer be able to be at home, but it really isn't safe for her there. Besides, it will mean that we will not have to spend so much time worrying about her.
