Weekend

So Spencer had a work related meeting on Friday in Salt Lake and then had a Lego club meeting on Saturday so he stayed over night. Not wanting to go with him I stayed here with the boys. Saturday morning Mom called to tell me that they needed to some how get me the meat that they were giving me because they didn't have enough room in their freezer to have the cow that they picked up on Saturday as well as the one that they picked up this morning. Mom was willing to meet me half way or bring me the meat all the way to me, but where she was already on the road to take Jen some I didn't want her to have to drive anymore. That and I was planning on making a trip out there to get the meat next weekend I just decided to go out Saturday afternoon. So I quickly got the boys and myself ready and left. I dropped the boys off in Salt Lake with Spencer and then went the rest of the way into Vernal by myself. It has been a long time since I have made that long trip by myself. Actually I don't think that I have made it all the way to Vernal by myself since we moved from Logan. It was actually kind of nice to have the day to myself. I love my boys, but it was sure nice not to have to worry about what they were getting into.

Ladies lunch/ play date

When one of my friends have a bad week we often times meet for lunch. This month we decided to plan to have lunch just for an excuse to get together. Instead of going to Pizza Hut we came over to my house. that way when the kids were done eating and the mom's weren't done talking they could go play and not disturb anyone or mess up a restaurant. It was fun. We ended up having three babies here and Bub was in heaven. When it was time for everyone to leave Monkey was really upset that they had to leave and Bub got really upset that the babies were leaving. He would definitely be happy to have a baby at home. It was fun to sit and talk with someone above 5. The kids also really liked playing.

shopping

Yesterday we went into Salt Lake and did some shopping. Okay so "some" is an understatement. We did a lot of shopping. I went into Salt Lake a couple of times during January, but I didn't really do much shopping except to get a few items that were on my list. (Well the one trip wasn't exactly getting a few items. I got all of the wood for the deck floor.)

Monkey needed some new shoes so we went into Payless. Bub immediately started in on boots. So Spencer found him some boots. We had already found a pair of shoes for Monkey, but when he saw the boots that Bub had and he needed to have a pair of boots too. So instead of new shoes Monkey and Bub both got a pair of boots. All I can say is thank heaven they were doing buy 1 get on 1/2 off because at 22.99 a pair those are some expensive shoes for how long the kids are actually going to be wearing them.

When we went and got dinner I added up the receipts from all of the stores we had been to at that point and we had spent about $265. I told Spencer we would double that when we went to COSTCO. We spent $245 there. The best part of this was that even though we did spend over $500 on the trip we didn't buy too many things that were frivolous. It just makes me feel good to know that in this poor economy I am able to buy enough that I am able to add to my storage of food in case something happens and I have to fall back on these items.

Bitter Sweet Sunday

For the last almost two years I have been in the Primary for the small brnach I go to. Today was the last Sunday in our small branch. Next Sunday the whole district will be rearranged.

The kids that I have taught for the last two years have become near and dear to my heart. I will truly miss being with them every Sunday. Kids are so strong and I have enjoyed watching them as they have matured over the last two years. I know the changes are inspired, but it will still be hard.

after the storm

So we really don't get that much snow. The problem we have is blowing snow. This is a picture of the road.

This is the tail end of the drift at the end of my drive.

another snowy day

Why is it when the weather goes bad that things go bad. When Spencer and I went to lunch this afternoon I noticed that my front passenger tire looked really low. When I got home I checked the pressure in it and it was down to like half what it should be. When I filled it up I could hear the air escaping. The worst part is that I don't know if there is some where here in town that repairs tires. I may have to send it to Wells with Spencer tomorrow... And I forgot that I had groceries in the trunk... good thing it is cold out.

just another day

This tough economic times have finally hit Wendover. One casino is closing (at least I have been told that they have been given notice) and the others have laid a bunch of people off. This does not affect Spencer and I as much, but it has taken its tole on the daycare where Monkey goes to preschool. After next week he will start going to school in the mornings instead of in the afternoons. This will mean that I am going to have to start getting up and getting ready first thing in the morning. This is actually probably going to be a good thing, but that doesn't change the fact that I have not been a morning person for the last four years. I just need to go back to the schedule that I had when I was in high school. I use to enjoy getting up at five. Something about being up before everyone else and having the quiet of the house. Staying up later than everyone else is kind of the same thing, but there is a difference from morning and night.
